The aliens of the farm!
Lamancha plans
Like with our Alpines, our plan with the lamanchas is to create our own line of MDGA mini lamanchas. These girls will be bred to Nigerians to create our first F1 minis. Once we retain and freshen those, we will be potentially adding a mini lamancha buck.
Dr. Pepper
Dr. Pepper is a doe we saw for sale when we were already getting Michael his Magnolia goat. They were from the same farm. She originally came as a companion for Maggie, because I prefer to bring 2 older kids together, but has become so much more. The plan was for her to be Londyns 4H show goat but she has bonded to Tony and demands his love and attention.
Piper
Piper is extremely special.
We had been on the waiting list for a doe from Parham farm and after some kidding tragedies Piper originally was going to be retained. We were extremely excited when Kathy asked if we would still be interested and due to health issues and a new human baby they needed to down size. We promised to take amazing care of this girl and protect their legacy with this little treasure.
She is very loved and loves nobody more than Tony. She and Dr. Pepper think they are dogs and are more emotional support goats!
Caramello
Caramello was not a planned baby. We offer disbudding services here and she was a tiny tiny baby who came for disbudding and we just couldn't let her go.
She was one of triplets and her smaller sibling had already passed. She was very weak and dehydrated because her mom was not producing milk and she wouldnt take a bottle. At 5 days old, she joined the herd (physically joining after we ran disease testing on her parents and does in milk!)
She is the little miracle baby completing our lamancha collection
Sprite
Sprite is a special goat from our good friend at Hairy Dairy Goat Farm in Como.
It was 10pm and we were called for a kidding emergency! Sprites mom had been in labor and the baby was stuck! We managed to fish him out but unfortunately it was too late for him. The second baby, Sprite, came out into Londyns arms and she immediately started stimulating and getting her going. A 3rd kid came out strong, and she was just as pretty as Sprite!
It was an instant bond between Londyn and little Sprite and she immediately came home with us as a bottle baby and her sister stayed with their momma. We were excited to see Sprite not only had her mommas gorgeous blue eyes, but she was also polled! Her mom is an unregistered mini lamancha and her dad is a registered mini lamancha.
TMGR offers a NOP program, "Native on Production", where a doe can earn her registration papers after earning the minimum requirements on milk test. So this is our goal for little Sprite.
